Terms & Conditions

Last updated: April 25, 2026

1Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Termique ("the Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must discontinue use of the Service immediately. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Termique ("Company," "we," or "us").

2Description of Service

Termique is a secure SSH credential management service with end-to-end encrypted synchronization. The Service enables you to securely store, manage, organize, and synchronize SSH keys, server configurations, connection snippets, and related metadata ("Credentials") across multiple devices. The Service includes Google OAuth authentication, hardware security key support (Yubikey, Apple Secure Enclave), and a zero-knowledge encryption architecture.

3Account Registration & Authentication

You must register for a Termique account to use the Service. We offer the following authentication methods:

  • Google OAuth: You may sign in using your Google account. By doing so, you authorize Termique to receive your email address and basic profile information from Google. This authorization is governed by Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
  • Master Password: You must create a strong master password that is used to derive your encryption key locally. This password is never transmitted to our servers. If you forget your master password, we cannot recover your encrypted data.
  • Hardware Security Keys: Optional FIDO2/WebAuthn second-factor authentication via Yubikey or Apple Secure Enclave for enhanced account security.

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your authentication credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

4User Responsibilities

You agree to use Termique in accordance with the following guidelines:

  • Master Password Security: Maintain the confidentiality of your master password. Use a strong, unique password. If you believe your master password has been compromised, change it immediately and contact us.
  • Lawful Use Only: Use the Service solely for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not use the Service to manage credentials for illegal servers, unauthorized access, or any activity that violates applicable laws.
  • No Security Evasion: Do not attempt to breach, exploit, bypass, or circumvent the Service's security measures, including attempting to decrypt other users' vaults or access unauthorized accounts.
  • Account Responsibility: Accept full responsibility for all activities conducted under your account, including any connections made using your stored credentials.
  • Credential Accuracy: Ensure that credentials you store (hostnames, ports, usernames, SSH keys) are accurate and belong to servers you are authorized to access.
  • Hardware Key Protection: If using a hardware security key, ensure you retain physical access to it. Loss of the hardware key may result in loss of second-factor authentication access.

5Data Ownership

You retain full ownership of all Credentials you store and manage through Termique. Your SSH keys, server configurations, connection snippets, and associated metadata remain your exclusive property. Termique does not claim, nor will it assert, any ownership rights over your data. We use your data only to provide the Service as described in these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

6Zero-Knowledge Encryption Architecture

Termique implements a zero-knowledge encryption architecture:

  • Your master password is used with Argon2id to derive an encryption key locally on your device
  • All Credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before transmission to our servers
  • The derived encryption key and master password never leave your device in plaintext
  • We cannot decrypt your stored Credentials under any circumstances

Due to this architecture, loss of your master password results in permanent loss of access to your encrypted vault. Termique cannot reset or recover your master password. You are solely responsible for remembering your master password and keeping it secure.

7Acceptable Use Policy

You agree NOT to use Termique to:

  • Store credentials for servers you do not own or are not authorized to access
  • Manage credentials for conducting unauthorized access, hacking, or intrusion activities
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the encryption algorithms or vault format
  • Attempt to access, read, or decrypt another user's vault or Credentials
  • Use the Service as a platform for distributing stolen, leaked, or unauthorized credentials
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or overload our infrastructure or the Service of other users

8Security

Termique employs industry-standard security measures including AES-256-GCM encryption, Argon2id key derivation, TLS 1.3 in transit, and Cloudflare's edge network infrastructure with SOC 2 Type II compliance. While we are committed to maintaining robust security, no system can guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to:

  • Use a strong, unique master password managed in a reputable password manager
  • Enable hardware security key second-factor authentication
  • Keep your operating system, Termique app, and browsers up to date
  • Promptly report suspected security vulnerabilities to security@termique.dev

9Service Availability

We endeavor to maintain 99.9% uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service availability. Periodic maintenance, updates, hardware upgrades, or unforeseen circumstances (including distributed denial-of-service attacks, natural disasters, or infrastructure failures beyond our control) may result in temporary service unavailability. We will provide reasonable advance notice of scheduled maintenance via our status page at status.termique.dev and in-application notifications when possible.

11Intellectual Property

The Termique name, logo, design, codebase, and all related documentation, APIs, and the zero-knowledge encryption architecture are the exclusive property of Termique. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without our prior written consent. The Service is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

12Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Termique and its officers, employees, contractors, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages—including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of savings, business interruption, or cost of substitute services—arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, whether based on contract, tort, strict liability, or any other legal theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100).

13Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Termique and its officers, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your violation of these Terms; (b) your misuse of the Service; (c) your violation of any third-party right, including without limitation any intellectual property, privacy, or security right; or (d) any unauthorized, unlawful, or improper use of your stored Credentials.

14Account Termination

You may terminate your account at any time through the in-app account deletion feature or by emailing privacy@termique.dev. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in activities that compromise the security or integrity of the Service, or if we are required to do so by law. Upon termination: (a) your right to use the Service immediately ceases; (b) we will delete your account data within 30 days in accordance with our Privacy Policy; and (c) any active subscriptions will be cancelled and not refunded pro-rata except as required by applicable law.

15Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-application notice at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service following any modification constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you must terminate your account before the changes take effect.

16Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If the dispute cannot be resolved through negotiation within 30 days, either party may submit the dispute to binding arbitration in San Francisco, California, under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property rights.

17Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable while preserving the parties' original intent.

18Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any referenced policies, constitute the entire agreement between you and Termique regarding your use of the Service and supersede all prior agreements, representations, warranties, and understandings, whether oral or written.
